1. Few centuries old myth on Aranmula Kannadi is connected to Aranmula Parthasarathy temple
2. The local king brought craftsmen from Tirunelveli of Tamil Nadu
3. He ordered the craftsmen to make a crown for the deity of the temple
4. While experimenting with tin and copper, they stumbled upon a formula with reflective property of the alloy
5. This led to the development of mirrors using that secret formula

Techniques of mirror making

1. Initially the alloy is made
2. Then the molding is done i n a furnace stoked by fire
3. The molds are allowed to cool
4. The mirror formed is taken and polished several times
5. Finally the mirror is fitted on a bronze frame
