History of Munnar
- Munnar was a silent tribal settlement under Poonjar Raja
- In 1790 Duke of Wellington was sent here to stop Tipu Sultan at Kumily which started European footfalls at Munnar
- The first tea sapling was planted by A.H. Sharp at Parvathi, part of the present Sevenmullay estate which spurred the tea plantations here
- John Daniel Munroe was the person who show cased Munnar to the world during 1870s
- In 2017 Munnar was selected as ” Best Destination for Romance” by Lonely Planet
