Elephanta festival is a two days festival conducted by Maharashtra Tourism Department to promote tourism and Indian art form. Artists from around the world come and perform here. Other than an oppertunity to witness the best talents perform, the venue itself is an attraction. The festival is conducted at Elephanta caves which consists of five Hindu caves and a few Buddhist stupa mounds that date back to the 2nd century BCE

History of  Elephanta festival

  1. The festival was started in 1989
  2. The biggest idol in the rock cut caves is a 20 feet tall idol of Trimurti Sada shiva
  3. Since its inception, every year Elephanta festival is conducted for two days
