1. Kumarakom was ruled by the Travancore Royal family
2. In later part of 19^th century an Englishman Henry Baker purchased the land from Raja of Travancore and build himself a grand home
3. In 1962 the property was sold to Taj group and they converted it into a resort
4. Kumarakom village became first village in Kerala to launch responsible tourism practices in 2008
