1.  Arab travelers visited Kasaragod between the 9th and the 14th centuries CE
2. Duarte Borbosa, the Portuguese traveler visited Kumbla, near Kasaragod in 1514
3. Before the formation of Kerala, Kasaragod was a part of South Canara district of erstwhile Madras Presidency.
4. Kasaragod became part of Kannur district following the formation of Kerala in 1 November 1956
5. In 1984 it became an independent district
