Edathua : A Hidden Gem In Kerala’s Backwaters

Located on the banks of the Pampa river in the Kuttanad region of Alappuzha district is the beautiful and picturesque village of Edathua. It is known for its extensive backwaters and unique below sea level paddy fields, making it one of the few places in the world where farming happens below sea level.
Getting to Edathua
Edathua is well-connected by road via Alappuzha-Changanassery (AC) Road. It is about 14km away from the Changanassery Railway Station and takes about 30 – 40 minutes via car or bus. The village lies about 110km away from the Cochin International Airport in Ernakulam and will take about 2-3 hours to reach by road and 2 hours to reach the Changanassery Railway Station from Aluva Railway Station.
