History of  Rishikesh

1. This is the place where mythological saint Raibhya performed penance
2. After the visit of the famous sage Shankaracharya in 9^th AD the fame of this place shot up
3. There was a jute bridge across river Ganga which was supposed to be made by Lord Ram’s brother Lakshman
4. The Jute Bridge was replaced by Iron suspension bridge in 1889.
5. The Beatles music band came to Rishikesh in the 1960s to study yoga
