History of International Camel Festival of Bikaner

  1. Bikaner was founded in 1488 AD , by the Rathore prince,Bika. From that ttime onwards Bikaner is the only camel breeding region
  2. Ganga Risala” was the predecessor of Indian Army’s camel unit “Ganga JaisalmerRisala” which saw action in Indo-Pakistan War of 1965, and was later disbanded in the year 1975
  3. Tourism department decided to start International Camel festival during January every year to attract tourists and honor camel
  4. Since 2010 it has attracted tourists around the world
