Madri Gras celebration in New Orleans happens for two weeks before and through Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday . Parades happens every day during this festive season.Its celebrated before lent fasting starts.The 2017 edition witnessed 1.5 million tourists.

History of  Madri Gras

1. The first record of Mardi Gras being celebrated in Louisiana state was on March 2, 1699
2. Its unknown when Madri Gras celebration started in New Orleans
3. The first “krewe” ( carnival club)in New Orleans to conduct parade was formed in 1856
4. Green, gold and purple were first specified in proclamations by the Rex organization during their inaugural parade in 1872
5. In 1875 Louisiana state declared Mardi Gras as state holiday
