Goa is called Pearl of the orient. The Portuguese colonization had brought to Goa different catholic celebrations . One such festival is Goa carnival which happens before lent days . This is open to all and no tickets required.

History of  Goa Carnival

  1. The Goan carnival has roots to its colonization by Portuguese
  2. Till 1965 the carnival was celebrated as a small street festival
  3. Timoteo Fernandes a Goan musician modeled it like the famous Rio Carnival in 1965
