History of  Elephant Festival in Jaipur

1. Elephants were used for battle and travel by the Royalties
2. In early days before Indian independence the Royalties would celebrate with the elephant parade and elephant polo to entertain themselves and their important guests
3. The Rajasthan state tourism department turned it into an event to attract tourists to Rajasthan
4. Until 2011, the festival was celebrated in Chaugan Stadium
5. On 2011 it was shifted to Jaipur polo stadium
