Kuruvadweep is an uninhabited island inside forest of Wayanad, Kerala.It the only island in India surrounded by fresh water.Abundance of elephants, birds and other animals makes it sought after wildlife destination.

History

1. Recorded history of Wayanad available from 10^th century CE
2. In 930 CE Erayappa of Ganga Dynasty conquered this region
3. Later Hyder Ali and son Tipu Sultan ruled Wayanad
4. 1792 treaty of Srirangapatna gave control of Wayanad to British rulers
5. Post Indian independence in 1947 Wayanad became part of the state Kerala

Since passes from Forest department is mandatory, make sure you book passes prior to your travel to Kuruvadweep ( Rs.10/- for Indians and Rs.20- for Foreign nationals per pass for adults)
