Hampi, on the banks of Thungabhadra river,  was the capital city of Vijayanagara empire.

Remnants of the sophisticated city of 14th-16th century include many forts,  royal and sacred complexes, temples,  etc.

It is listed as Group of Monuments at Hampi  in UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is in eastern part of Central Karnataka. It is approachable by road around 350 km from Bangalore, around 370 km from Hyderabad and around 560 km from Pune
